What Is Context?
Context is a plain-text document (written in Markdown) that gets shared with your elvex Home agent and your custom built agents automatically at the start of conversations. Instead of re-explaining your role, team structure, or company background every time, you write it once and elvex handles the rest.
There are two types:
Personal Context: Information about you: your role, responsibilities, goals, preferences, and anything else that helps agents understand how to assist you specifically. This is controlled by each user.
Company Context: Information about your organization: what the business does, how teams are structured, key processes, terminology, and other shared knowledge that's relevant across your whole company. This is controlled by your organization's elvex adminstrators.
Why It Matters
Without context, your elvex Home agent and your custom agents answer questions in a vacuum. They don't know your industry, your team's priorities, or how you prefer to work. With context, elvex can:
Give recommendations that fit your actual role and responsibilities
Use company-specific terminology correctly
Skip generic preambles and get to relevant answers faster
Make better assumptions when your question is ambiguous
How Agents Use Context
The elvex Home experience uses context by default.
Agents built by your team must have the Enable user context button checked. Any agent with the setting enabled will have access to both your personal and company context.
When you start a new conversation, agents assess their rules and then retrieve Personal Context and Company Context before responding. This happens in the background—you don't need to paste anything or prompt the agent to look it up.
