Setting Up MCP Servers with the Ask elvex Sidebar
Connecting an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to elvex gives your agents access to external tools and data sources. But finding the right server URL, OAuth endpoints, and scopes can be tedious — you often need to dig through provider documentation or guess at configuration values. The Ask elvex sidebar solves this problem by letting you describe the MCP server you want to connect, then automatically prefilling the setup form with the correct URL, OAuth endpoints, scopes, and related fields.
You might use the Ask elvex sidebar when:
You want to connect a new MCP server but don't know the exact configuration values
You're tired of copying OAuth endpoints and scopes from provider documentation
You want to reduce setup errors from manual entry
The Ask elvex sidebar allows you to:
Describe the MCP server in plain language — the assistant finds the right configuration for you
Prefill the entire setup form — URL, OAuth endpoints, scopes, and related fields are populated automatically
Connect with confidence — the suggested configuration comes from elvex's knowledge of MCP providers
How It Works
When you open Add MCP Server, an Ask elvex sidebar appears. You can describe the server you want to connect — for example, "Fireflies MCP" or "Linear MCP" — and the assistant suggests the appropriate configuration.
The sidebar prefills the form fields automatically based on your description. When you click Connect & Authorize, the chat closes and resets. If you reopen the sidebar, it starts fresh.
