What you'll accomplish
By the end of this tutorial, you'll send an email to one of your contacts using only conversation with your elvex assistant.
Step 1: Start with the home chat
The elvex home chat is your default assistant that comes with special capabilities, including the ability to discover and enable integrations on demand.
Navigate to your elvex home chat
Look for the chat interface - this is where you'll have your conversation
Step 2: Ask about Gmail integration
Instead of navigating through settings, you can simply ask your assistant about the tools you want to use.
Type the following message in your home chat:
Can you help me send emails through Gmail?
Your assistant will search for Gmail-related integrations and show you what's available, including whether Gmail is connected and what actions are possible.
Step 3: Connect your Gmail account
If Gmail isn't already connected, you will need to follow these steps to initiate the connection process.
Click Connect on the top right of the integration suggestion card. You'll be redirected to Gmail's authentication page.
Review the permissions that elvex is requesting
Click Accept or Allow to grant elvex access to your Gmail account
You'll be returned to elvex with Gmail now connected
The assistant will confirm that Gmail is now connected and show you the available actions.
Step 4: Enable Gmail actions for your assistant
After Gmail is connected you should be redirected back to your conversation and all available actions for Gmail will be connected.
Step 5: Send your first email
Now you can use your newly connected Gmail integration to send an email through conversation.
Type a message like:
Send an email to [contact name] with the subject "Testing my elvex integration" and say "Hi! I'm testing my new elvex Gmail integration. This email was sent through my AI assistant!"
Replace [contact name]
with the name of someone in your Gmail contacts.
Your assistant will use the Gmail integration to send the email and confirm that it was sent successfully.
Step 6: Verify the email was sent
To confirm everything worked correctly, check your Gmail Sent folder to see the email you just sent. You can also ask your assistant: "Can you show me my recent sent emails?"
Woohoo!
Congratulations! You've successfully:
✅ Discovered an integration through conversation
✅ Connected your Gmail account to elvex
✅ Enabled Gmail actions for your assistant
✅ Sent an email using natural language commands
✅ Verified the integration is working properly
